The Reality of Drug Use

By Eric Richardson
Published: Monday, March 07, 2005, at 12:20PM

In my head I understand that this side of Downtown still has issues with drugs, but for the most part that's not something that impacts my day-to-day life. Last night, though, I saw a guy shooting up in the parking lot next to my building. He was just sort of hanging out next to the wall, and as I walked by to my flexcar I could pretty clearly see the needle he was sticking into his arm. I wasn't sure of any appropriate response, so I just went on to my car, got in, and drove away.

Welcome to the neighborhood! Piping up, shooting up, and open intoxicants are all decriminalized in the lovely "historic core" of L.A.

i can not believe that you did not call police to come in and check the individual. i do not think he would get very far given the condition he was in. your call may prevent individuals from gathering by your area and force them out towards other areas, like the valley.
