Raining Down Bricks

By Eric Richardson
Published: Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at 03:37PM

There are enough odd statements in this little story to make me wonder about it, but I'd imagine there's a kernel of truth somewhere. According to abc7.com, someone last night was throwing bricks off the roof of the Alexandria.

Police searched today for a man who threw bricks from the roof of the Alexandria Hotel onto a street in downtown Los Angeles.

Police were called to the hotel at 150 S. Spring Street around 11:30 last night when witnesses reported a man was throwing bricks from the roof of the nine-story building, said Sgt. John Amendola of the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Station.

The man, believed to be in his late 40s or early 50s, ran back into the building, and police were unable to locate him, Amendola said.

No one was injured, Amendola said.

The address given is wrong, obviously. I think the Alexandria might be 501 S. Spring, and they just jumbled it around. The story also says 5th was closed from Spring to Main for cleanup, which would seem one block incorrect. Perhaps, though, the guy just had a strong arm. Maybe Celia can shed some light on this one.

Update (5pm): I hadn't noticed that eecue posted about this on blogging.la. I guess that's what I get for not making the rounds of other blogs before posting.
