Sweat-Free Shopping

American Apparel has been in the news plenty over the past year, often touting their slogan of "Sweatshop free, made in Downtown LA." Good stuff, though not really cheap. (And I still haven't seen their 5th Street store open, even though there are clothes on the racks.)

There are other ways for sweatshop-free shopping Downtown, though, and via Green LA Girl I just found out about the Garment Worker Center and its "Sweat-Free Shopping Day" on December 2nd. Check the site for more details, but the basic gist is that they're going to tell you about themselves and have a "fair with union-made, cooperative-made, and fair trade products." It is the gift-giving season, after all.

American Apparel is good. Im getting a 1,000 custom shirts made, using their brand. Its a shame about the prices though, im getting a distributors discount so its like 90% off...so no worries.
