Congratulations to Jim and Celia

I'm slow on this one, but I'd be remiss in my duties if I didn't note the engagement of Downtown bloggers Jim and Celia (he of trainedmonkey and she of 5th & Spring).

This seems to be the theme in Downtown blogs this year. Dave and Penelope are getting married this summer, as are Kathy and I.

Given that the trend in Downtown has been the influx of the younger single professional, could these cases be evidence of an upcoming further demographic shift?

time to open a 'gap for kids' down here?

One would wonder if these events are a harbinger of a demographic shift. It certainly suggests the residential community downtown is setting down some roots and moving beyond the hipster cliche. It is another sign of people anchoring themselves in the community (assuming they stay). If anything, it just makes downtown more 'normal' and urban living just another lifestyle choice.

These couples should have fun planning their wedding. Downtown offers lots of great possibilities. When my wife and I got hitched a few years back, the ceremony was at the Catholic Church near 9th & Union west of the 110. My wife bought her dress on Broadway. We had the reception at the Central Library. Angelique Cafe catered. And we honeymooned at The Standard Hotel.

As for Mr. Quinn's comment about a Gap for Kids (I assume he was just joking), take my word for it, it would be a welcome addition to the retail mix downtown. With three kids (!), Gap seems pricy, but their quality is exceptional.
