Biking around on Saturday I noticed that the Transamerica SBC at&t center is getting a makeover. That's sort of an "It's about time" type of thing, but what interested me was that the renderings showed the building with a very different looking skin.

The images show a much more traditional looking glass building with the odd open space on the top filled in (though still apparently a different color).

I tend to think that what they do to the ground-floor is going to be much more important than changes to the skin, as that area starts to get enough stuff to support a retail center. It's still interesting, though, since that building does stand so prominent (and alone) in the LA skyline.

Next question is when is the old AT&T Center (6th and Grand) going to get its makeover?

Close, but not quite. You're talking about the old SBC building north of 5th on Grand. I'm talking about the office tower at the corner of 6th & Grand that was the AT&T Center.
