Progress on Hall of Justice Restoration?

Work on the Hall of Justice? Eric Richardson [Flickr]

Over a year ago this red construction elevator went up outside the Hall of Justice and I asked whether this meant restoration was finally getting started. It didn't.

Now, though, the county has completed their EIR process on the building and things may actually get moving and the Conservancy seems pleased with the direction the work is taking.

The article hints at future tours, but I'm sure it'll be years before the building's in a state for those to occur.

An interesting aspect to consider in all of this is the concentration of power that will occur if the Sheriff's department does indeed move its headquarters back to the Hall. In five years it looks like we'll have headqarters for both LAPD and the Sheriff's office flanking City Hall.
