The Other Downtown LA

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES —
From Main we Spring to Broadway, and over the Hill to Olive. Wouldn't it be Grand if we could Hope to pick a Flower that grows on Figueroa?
The city of Huntington Park was incorporated in 1906. At some point in its history apparently it was decided that they should borrow some street names from Downtown LA and use them in order. You can find them here, just a few miles southeast of Downtown.
What's particularly odd is that the real Broadway is still running south just three miles west of this one.

I grew up on the Huntington Park Hope Street...my parents still live there.
I had always believed (did I read it somewhere?) that the sequence of names from Flower to Broadway was actually taken from another older city.
I see now that the streets are L.A. originals (see this for the history.)
The original L.A. names were
Calle Principal (Main)
Calle Primavera (Spring)
Calle Fortin (Fort, now Broadway)
Calle Loma (Hill)
Calle Accytuna (Olive)
Calle de Caridad (Charity, now Grand)
Calle de Las Esperanzas (Hope)
Calle de Las Flores (Flower)
Calle de Las Chapules (Grasshopper, now Figueroa).
The HP sorta-equivalents are:
Santa Ana Street ~ Main Street
Cudahy Street ~ Spring Street
...
Live Oak Street ~ Figueroa Street
California Street ~ Francisco Street?
Walnut Street ~ ???
