Famima!! to Open Tomorrow

It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks for Downtown and Famima!!. It was less than a month ago that we discovered that the convenience chain would be opening up next to Roy's Restaurant at 800 S. Figueroa. Then Friday I mentioned that it was getting close. Curbed.LA followed that up with a report that same day saying that the shelves were being stocked.

So when's it finally going to open? Tomorrow.

I'm sure I'll wander over at lunch and check it out. Here's an interior shot from Friday, if that interests you.

All the other Famima!! stores open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. except for the one in Westwood and Colorado Blvd. Pasadena.

I hope they keep late hours here in Downtown. Someone... please beg them to stay open until 2 a.m. Please! We have no food shops running that late, and thus no choices.

Our hours are gonna be M-F 6a - 10p and Sat/Sun 7a - 10pm just because we are in Downtown LA which is relatively still heavily corporate. especially going north up Figueroa from 8th Street.

So, let's get this straight. Famima!! is short for "Family Mart"? Yeah, I guess it wouldn't quite have the same cachet here in the USA if it was called Family Mart.

I do wish it was open later. But 10pm is not horrible, and at least it's open on the weekends. I just hope the South Park residents patronize it so that they keep those weekend hours.

According to their website, part of the "Famima Advantage" is "24/7/365". If they plan to stand on their "innovative" reputation, Famima shouldn't be playing it safe in a steadily expanding residential and nightlife destination. What's next? Will the Golden Gopher close at 10:00 p.m. because downtown is still "heavily corporate" ?

According to the website's store locator : http://www.famima-usa.com/storelocator/index.html

The hours for the downtown store will be 6a-2a....

Veronica: The flyers they were handing out at the store said 10pm. I would guess the website is just incorrect. That happens all too often. Don't ever try to use Best Buy's site to get hours...

6am - 10pm?? What a joke...

That's too bad... if you were open late you'd have a monopoly.

Between 6am and 10pm I've got too many other choices to make an effort to walk all the way down 8th so I can shop at Famima.

Sorry...

Michael: Name me a market Downtown that's open until 10pm. Much less 10pm on the weekends.

The market in Santee Village is open until 10pm most nights and I've seen them open until midnight on weekends...
