Crash Story Leaves a Dark Linger

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — 6th street still shows the dark side (pun intended) of Nicole Kidman's much publicized crash during film last week. Kidman and the Jaguar she was in were being towed during filming when they lost control and hit this street light on the corner of 6th and Broadway. Ever since that block between Broadway and Hill has been largely dark, with all but one of the street lights out of commission.
The crash story itself was sort of a "look at crazy Hollywood" type of thing, but it's sad to see the delay in getting the lights replaced here. Downtown's struggles with keeping the streets lit for pedestrians enough as it is. We don't need Hollywood working against us here.

A similar incident happened to us in Lincoln Heights. A production company backed their truck into a treasured historic clock and completely demolished it. Not only have they not fixed it, they refuse to acknowledge it was their fault (despite eyewitnesses). I guess film production companies have learned to get away with these kinds of accidents.
