A couple small bits around Downtown...

Ground Broken: Related's part of Block 8 has now broken ground. The site, originally all owned by Related, has been broken up and a couple parts have been sold off to other developers.

People Perspective: As usual, Ed follows through with the people perspective on a story mentioned here. He interviews the driver whose car was damaged by yesterday's toppling tree on 6th.

Wet Floor: A bit of an odd sign sitting on Flower right now (pictured). I'm guessing DOT didn't put that one out.

Your subheading "Ground Broken" would work as the caption for the picture, too!

Speaking of nasty holes... have you seen the tree wells on Grand Avenue near MoCA/Colburn lately? I was absent-mindedly walking south on Grand (east side of the street) with my BF when he yelled "Watch out!" -- the tree wells have openings that go three feet deep with large spaces surrounding the trunk.

Luckily I didn't step in the holes, but if someone were to inadvertently step in the hole they'd definitely break their leg. It's a huge liability because even though people should watch where they're going, they can't reasonably expect to fall into a hole and break their leg. I hope the city fixes it...
