The Morning Of
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — I haven't decided what my strategy for the morning is quite yet. In the end, I've got a job with plenty waiting for me to do and I'll probably be there and not wandering around Downtown.
You shouldn't be driving around Downtown today (though last May 1st proved to be a good day for Downtown driving), but if you insist check out this LADOT page on closures. It's a staggered approach with performance clauses -- additional closures kick in based on attendance levels.
In March we talked about Jose Huizar's motion to study Broadway protests. In today's context I ask again: Is Broadway's role as the default street for marches good or bad for Downtown?

Well, I agree with your comments from one year ago today under the heading, "Starting To Really See The People", where you said " I love seeing this many people Downtown....and the sidewalks getting so many feet on them"

Definitely. It really struck me today how well Downtown handles this level of traffic. Travel a block or two from where the march was and the day was no different than any other.
At the same time, though, the toll on businesses along Broadway adds up the more days streets are closed for things like this.
