DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Plans are really coming together for Sunday's blogdowntown picnic. After several scouting trips we've decided the festivities will take place at the Elysian Fields picnic area, a spot with a great view of Downtown. Honestly, how can you argue with this view?
If you missed Friday's announcement, here's the basic run-down:
May 27th.
2pm.
Elysian Park.
Elysian Fields Picnic Area.
Bring your own food and drink.
Meet people.
Explore the park.
Even Downtown Councilwoman Jan Perry has said she's planning to come out, so how could you not be there?
Here's a map of the picnic area and the route from Downtown. We'll be posting more about the picnic and the park as the days get closer, but definitely make your plans now to come join us.
Just in case, here's the sign you're looking for in the park:

watch out, perry might decide the park would be a great place for some new department headquarters.

Heh. Ironically, the park has a long history of LAPD's attempts to claim land for the training complex. Visiting the site today you could hear the pops from the firing range. And yet the park successfully resisted the City's attempt to put a convention center there, so I think it can outlast a visit by a Councilmember.

Damn, this sounds like a ton of fun and of course I'll be at Huntington Gardens with my mom. Have some fun on my behalf.
