7th Finally Getting Its Lights

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Just over a year ago City Council approved pedestrian lighting for 7th between Hill and Wall streets. In the months since the lights have shown up a few places – east on 7th and on Main street, but the sidewalk cuts on 7th in the Historic Core have remained empty.
It was a very pleasant surprise to see that changing this morning, with crews at work installing the lights between Spring and Hill.
Of course it doesn’t particularly matter if the lights aren’t working. Walking down Broadway last night the whole bank of transit lights were dark just south of 5th. There was some light from the traditional streetlights, but it doesn’t look that good to have these lights there but out.
