A Perfect Picnic Afternoon

Thanks to everyone who gave out to yesterday’s blogdowntown picnic and made it such a great success. Just over two dozen people turned out yesterday for our first picnic event and enjoyed amazing weather and some really good pizza from Los Angeles Pizza Company. It was a chance to enjoy a park that gets too little attention from those of us Downtown and to put some faces to names that we typically only see in print.

This picnic went from raw idea to actual event in a little under three weeks. There are definitely things I would plan a little better next time, but I couldn’t be happier with how this first go went yesterday.

The take-away from the afternoon was that this shouldn’t be just a one-time thing. We’ll definitely do it again, perhaps with another picnic in July.

Finally, we’d particularly like to thank Councilwoman Jan Perry for taking the time to come out and picnic with us. It says a lot for how much she cares about Downtown that she’d make the time on a Sunday to hang out with us bloggers.

thanks to everyone who pulled the picnic together…and to you, eric, for bringing attention to Elysian Park. i walk my dog there several times a week. this past year i’ve encountered more of our fellow downtown residents (and their dogs) enjoying this amazing oasis. the picnic was a wonderful idea, and great fun.

Thanks, Eric, Dave, and Ed, for a really great time. It was great to put faces to names. And hey, I might start trying to piece Angelenic together again. Who knows, eh?

Eric,

Thank you for putting together the picnic, it’s always such a pleasure meeting the men and women behind the blogs. I generally form a picture in my mind as to how everyone looks in person, and seldom am I correct.

Hope to see everyone again soon, Edward

instead of a picnic, let’s have an ice cream social somewhere downtown. the picnic was great, but damn that sun was brutal. let’s do something where attendees won’t have to risk severe sunburn - even with sunblock!
