Fashion District Welcomes a Farmers Market

By Eric Richardson
Published: Tuesday, October 02, 2007, at 09:44PM

Tomorrow at 4pm marks Downtown's sixth farmers market opens for business. The Fashion District BID is helping to sponsor the new Fashion District Farmers Market, to be held Wednesdays on the Santee Village Promenade at 716 S. Los Angeles street. Hours run from 4 - 7pm, and tomorrow's kickoff includes a DJ and free Fashion District tote bag.

It was only back in June that we marveled at the new Bank of America market, but it seems a mere five markets each week wasn't sufficient. Celia did a great job in cataloging the markets last time around, and with this new addition I've put together a map that you can find after the jump.

Downtown needs a full-time, daily dedicated farmers' market.

Either that or Grand Central Market should extend its hours.

Great! I much prefer their hours to the hours at City Hall Farmer's Marketl. 4-7pm actually allows people who work during the day to grab some good produce.

re: Grand Central Market - in addition to extended hours, they need better quality produce. I always seem to be digging around for a vegetable that isn't wrinkled, soft or rotting.
