DotDotDash: Halloween Edition

By Ed Fuentes
Published: Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at 05:37PM

DDD appears as returns from the dead with a October 31 edition, where Downtown finds itself with ghosts and a few hosts.

On the Hill: Walt Disney Hall Concert Hall holds its annual Halloween event tonight. Organist Clark Wilson will be playing the soundtrack for silent film classic "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" on the hall's pipe organ at 8pm. ..— DDD highly suggests sneaking over to Kendall's Brasserie, located next to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion for dessert. New item on the menu Pumpkin Guinness Shortbread Pudding, with Ginger Ice Cream and Bourbon Sauce.

More Night at the Opera: The soprano and the tenor known as "The Yvonne and Don Show" entertained last night at the Banquette wine tasting mini opera..— The Town Tenor: 3bN's Don Garza was the male voice of choice, and he was heard warming up earlier at 5th and Spring earlier in the afternoon -- hours before showtime.

Downtown Music Destination for Locals: La Fonda on Wilshire, home to the famed mariachi group Los Camperos de Nati Cano, played it's last show Sunday to a packed house. ..— Unconfirmed rumors based on hearsay according to an undisclosed source say the location once known as The Hacienda at 9th and Broadway is eyed as a new home.

Keys Coming In: There have been reports that Olvera Street's Terestita's Restaurant plans to honor Mexican star Antonio Aguilar with a memorial made of melted keys. The call for donated keys was made, and many have been dropped off at the offices of El Pueblo. The memorial itself hasn't secured funding, so Olvera Street staffers are being instructed to send them on to Terestita's Restaurant. Keys will continue to be collected, according to the source.

All dressed up and nowhere to go?: 410 Boyd (410 Boyd St) combines the closing reception for Suzi Moon's Art Show with its First Halloween Party. Starting time is 6pm. The real show may be at the loft of Lilli Muller where folks will gather at 5pm before making the short trek through Skid Row to Boyd..— The Rooftop Bar at The Standard Downtown (550 S. Flower St.) is holding an All Hallow's Eve Masquerade Ball hosted by Dance Right, James Outlaw and The entrance is free, but costumes are required and it's a guest list only affair. RSVP at

Seen on Santee: Westside couple Susan and Richard Murphy shopping for authentic Downtown garb. They plan to attend a Santa Monica-based Halloween Party this evening dressed as a new Downtown Loft couple. Safe to say, most new loft downtown couples shop in and around Santa Monica. ..— Other Fashion District: They could have gone to the Takashi Murakami show at MOCA's Geffen Contemporary, where sales at the Louis Vuitton shop were brisk opening night.

Last Add Ghost & Music: In the previous incarnation of Dot Dot Dash, print version, one favorite story was the ghost in the basement of the Chop Suey Cafe at the Historic Far East Building. According to the bartender, no one wanted to go downstairs. Seems a ghost of a Chinese cook has been seen wandering below dark has boldly raised the volume on iPods left behind.
