Tomorrow night you're all invited to a birthday party at the Triforium, the eccentric piece of art that towers over the LA Mall. It's not the birthday of the piece itself but of creator Joseph Young, who passed away in August.

Relit in December of last year, the Triforium has not yet been brought back to the capabilities it was created with. The gathering is intended to help bring together those who have a fond place in their heart for the colorful tower and would like to see the City continue with efforts to bring it back to life. Councilwoman Jan Perry will be present, as will members of Joseph Young's family.

Tomorrow, November 27th, 4:30 - 6:30pm, at the Triforium (Main and Temple).

Note to the mayor and city council: please move 'The Million Dollar Jukebox' up to the top of Mt. Lee. Way up there, it would be the perfect complement to the Hollywood Sign. Then proceed to redesign it's former location as an official city memorial to the late senator Robert F. Kennedy, who in the last five years of his life gave hope to SO MANY and morevoer, was the one person in Washington in Oct. of 1962 who provided the sort of advice to his brother which likely prevented the anhiliation of the planet by atomic weapons. With common sense he saved us all, provided a chance for future generations - plants, animals and a hairy biped which calls itself human.

I'd like to keep the Triforium...and how about finish the renovation of the "mall" making it a 'round the clock destination, not for those who only visit downtown during the weekday for work.

Yeesh... tear the mall down! Start from scratch. Nothing can save it and all attempts to do so are akin to slapping a Band-Aid on the situation.

I'd settle for a new government building there at the north end with some ground-level retail and maybe a park at the south end to complement a newly redesigned park at the north end of City Hall East.

Buuut maybe that's just me.

I'm with Juanito and Rico. Dynamite, please.

How about moving this to the Convention Center next to LA Live? That would place one thing with a lot of lights and activity with something else.

But I'm with the rest, tear down the Mall and start from scratch there.

If they can't tear the place down, why not(?) use the former Children's Museum as a Temporary L.A. History Museum, temporary - until a gorgeous new museum can be constructed somewhere in Downtown to house the history collection buried in the basement of the county museum in Exposition Park. Are you listening Patt Morrison? Lead the charge! (A history museum on the site of the demolished State Building across First Street from the Times would be the perfect solution.)
