It feels a bit like cheating to write a wrap-up of quarter four before it has even quite yet finished, but we'll go ahead and do it anyway. This is part four of our look at the year that was 2007 on blogdowntown.

Quarter four saw transit talk, openings and politics. We held two great meetups and watched Downtown get into the holiday spirit.

In Q4 we ran 134 posts, and you all chimed in with 863 comments. If you're interested (and likely you're really not) in how all those numbers relate to average number of comments per post, it comes out to 6.08 in Q1, 6.09 in Q2, 6.12 in Q3 and 6.44 in Q4. Top commenters for the quarter were David Kennedy with 46, Metro Local with 35 and Rico A at 26. — Continued Inside...

Ribbon Cutting Eric Richardson

Writing again from the cold clime of Michigan, here's part three in our look back at the year 2007.

Quarter three of 2007 saw Downtown finally get its grocery store. After that, little else seemed to matter. The same month held a much sadder note, though, with the passing of Arts District icon Joel Bloom. August and September brought a replaced cupola, a look at Skid Row basketball and a fight over liquor licenses. The summer months were plenty busy for Downtown.

The quarter saw 153 posts, and readers contributed 936 comments. Top commenters among non-authors were Benjamin Pezzillo with 52, fridayinla with 26, and a three-way tie at 25 between Bert Green, Scott Mercer and Urban Bruin. — Continued Inside...

Picnic with a View Eric Richardson

It's been snowing all day, so reflecting back on the warmth of an L.A. summer is particularly nice right now. This post is part two of our look back at 2007.

Quarter two saw our most commented post be a story about a post office. Downtown got named "3rd bloggiest neighborhood," we talked about Dodger Stadium, the Ritz broke ground and one building got a spring cleaning.

The quarter saw 155 posts and 944 comments. Top commenters were a shuffle of those from Q1. David Kennedy had 61, Benjamin Pezzillo ended up with 50 and Kenarch dropped to a measly 42. — Continued Inside...

4th Street Eric Richardson

Last year I started to do a year in review and made it through January and February before getting distracted by other things. This year I'll go a quarter per post and promise to make it through.

In the first quarter of 2007 we saw some new openings, but just as many things that appeared to be almost ready but still haven't come to fruition. A helicopter set off a filming debate, and a fire on Broadway showed the power of the Downtown community to cover itself.

blogdowntown, still a one man show at this point, had 122 posts and 742 comments in the quarter. Top commenter: kenarch, with 65 comments. Second place: David Kennedy, with 52. Third: Benjamin Pezzillo, with 43.

After the jump, some stories that stick out to me looking back at the end of the year... — Continued Inside...
