Raising Awareness for V-Day

By Ed Fuentes
Published: Thursday, March 13, 2008, at 09:51AM

Event Flyer Saturday, March 15th, brings two performances of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues to Little Tokyo’s Aratani Japan America Theatre. The Pan Asian cast includes Tamlyn Tomita, Takayo Fischer, KTLA Anchor Cher Calvin, and KTLA reporter Janet Choi in the L.A. version of the national V-Day event.

Proceeds go to the Center for the Pacific Asian Family, a Southern California shelter offering services to women and children survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Producer Grayce Wey Liu says that the production hopes to raise awareness of domestic and sexual violence in Asian and Pacific Islander communities, where less than 10% of crimes are reported because of shame or cultural stigma.

More information at the CPAF Website. There's a pre-launch benefit Friday night at Blue Velvet, put on by the Asian Professional Exchange.
