Walking back to my apartment just now I was passed by this man on a unicycle. He headed west on 6th before turning north at Spring.

I've never stopped to consider the unicycle's place in Downtown's mobility picture. I consider that a grave oversight.

I also saw him on Broadway at 5th when he had control problems - and sent pedestrians running for the lives...

Unicycles are great for urban transportation - if you are in control! It is very fast in acceleration, you can easiliy weave between slower bikes or pedestians. I personally ride my 36" where ever I go. I can ride around 20 mph on a good day.

I usually take my 26" unicycle going to the mall, the bank, supermart, food places (instead of the bicycle), daily on a 5-6 mile route thru sidewalks of West Los Angeles. On weekends I'm learning more "muni" or mountain unicycling on the Sta Monica mountains with a group of extreme unicyclists. For info check out "unicycleroundupla.com" under Rod Wylie.
