Cherry Picker Install at LA Live
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — A trio of cherry pickers were kept busy yesterday, as workers installed a glassy facade on the building at the northeast corner of LA Live.
That part of the massive development is scheduled to open in December, with grand opening festivities for the Grammy Museum slated for December 3rd.
In a rarity for Downtown, yesterday's work didn't even require a sidewalk closure. Though Downtown developments close sidewalks all the time, a covered sidewalk shed allowed pedestrian traffic to continue right on through.

That is a little missleading regarding your comment about the sidewalk. Yes, it is now open. However, this sidewalk was closed for a period of time during the earlier construction phase. So they really were not any different then other projects where the sidewalk was or is closed. You give the impression that LA Live has done what other projects have not done or tried to do which is keep the sidewalks open.

tornadoes: Good point. It was closed, and during basketball season, no less. That was ridiculous. I was more saying that it's possible to do construction work while still accommodating the walkers, rather than holding LA Live up as a model citizen.

Ok. I agree that the developers could do more to keep the sidewalks open.
