DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Located on Downtown's northern edge, the Cathedral High School Phantoms are getting set to break in a new synthetic turf field for the 2008 season.
The team features USC-commit Randall Carroll, who in June won state championships in the 100 and 200-meter events.
Cathedral is a 600-student Catholic all-boys high school located in Chinatown. It was founded in 1925, and students come from all over the surrounding areas.
The turf replacement is the last phase of a $14-million building program that gave the school a new gym and science building.
The team holds an intra-squad Purple vs. White game this Saturday, then has its first home game on the new field September 27th in an all-Downtown showdown against the Contreras Cobras.
