With Hayward Wrapping, Premiere Towers Next for Work
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Paint removal on the Hayward Hotel is now complete, and this morning a crew dismantled the scaffolding that had shielded the pedestrians from the work above. They didn’t go far, though, setting the sidewalk covering right back up next door in front of Premiere Towers. The 120-unit apartment building will be getting a cleaned up exterior and a paint job that highlights its interesting legacy.
Premiere Towers, located at 621 S. Spring, was converted to residential use in the early 1980s by the Community Redevelopment Agency. The project, designed as condos, combined two historic buildings – the 1923 California Canadian Bank Building and the 1931 E.F. Hutton Building.
Though they abut and today form a single structure, the two buildings have distinctive architectural styles. The work that kicked off today is intended to highlight that duality, giving the two buildings color schemes that simultaneously complement and differentiate.
Premiere Towers is owned by Pacific Investments, who also own the Hayward Hotel, City Lofts, Spring Tower Lofts and the Milano Lofts on 6th street. Collectively, City Lofts, Spring Tower Lofts and Premiere Towers are referred to as City Loft Square.
