A few steps away from the Detour Festival gates, thirteen-year-old Joane Nahue had her accordion and was practicing her play list of norteños music. Nahue says she attends classes at a San Fernanado Valley-based music school that specializes in the Texas-Mexico border folk music, and adds she is often on the same rehearsal spot on Main, just south of 2nd. Her mother works inside the the small stand-alone office that provides legal services for Latino immigrants, and from her desk can hear Joane practice.
