Sip Tea Offers Art Walk Discount
Interior Sip Tea on Broadway
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — New eatery Sip Tea hopes that those checking out tonight's Downtown Art Walk consider starting at 9th and Broadway. Still in its soft opening phase, the tea house will be offering 50 cents off of to go orders or free tea with any food order. Customers just need to mention the Downtown Art Walk.
If you haven't checked out Sip Tea, it's right across the street from the Eastern Columbia Building on Broadway. Owner Laura Stewart became fascinated with tea and its medicinal benefits after dealing with a few health issues and decided to open the store when she left the film industry.
Almost all of the food is organic and the offerings consist mainly of sandwiches and salads that run between 7.95 and 10.95. But the real reason to go is the large selection of tea. The day I went I had iced mint lemon tea sweetened with mint simple syrup. All cold or hot teas can be sweetened with freshly made simple syrups like lemon, raspberry, mint or vanilla and they come in sweet little laboratory beakers. A small outdoor patio livens up the space and allows you to enjoy the beautiful Eastern Columbia building.
In the future, Stewart plans on holding tea tastings on Sunday evenings where customers can learn about the many kinds of tea in a fun, social environment. She also hopes to have an afternoon tea but needs to find an organic baker that would be able to fill small orders since she can't bake on the premises yet.
