Around Art Walk: October, 2008
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — October's Downtown Art Walk had the first visible dip in attendance since April. That didn't concern many gallery owners who credit the reduction in -- and in some cases the elimination of -- alcohol being served during Art Walk night.
Still, Main street between 4th and 5th was filled with people lingering on the street well past 10pm. The crowd started outside Pete's and stretched all the way past the Regent Theater. That's still an eye-catching sight in a neighborhood that was so recently a very different place.
Take a look at some of the sights from October's Art Walk...

Not sure what it was like elsewhere, but we were busy as hell, with more than 1200 people at the gallery, as busy or busier than we have ever been. It was not slower for us.

I was guessing we probably had up around 1000 people through the bank as well. I wish we'd had a clicker to get a real count.

it felt slower, but i didn't keep any sort of count. i think it got started more slowly than the last couple of months. it wasn't a big difference, it was still quite a crowd.

It was Yom Kippur. Of course there was fewer people - particularly in the early evening. In fact, I had expected there to be far fewer people than did show up.
