DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — The role of stage show giant is already filled, but the Los Angeles Historic Theatre Foundation needs volunteers to fill other positions for its Million Dollar Spooktacular, taking place on Friday, October 31, and Saturday, November 1. It's a holiday two-for-one, with classic horror films and tie-ins to both Halloween and the Day of the Dead.
The fun takes place in the Million Dollar Theatre, where last Saturday the LATHF staged its "All About the Million Dollar." It's a great old theatre, and the non-profit wants to make the historic venue come alive with some classic Halloween fun.
Friday night is headlined by a showing of "Night of the Living Dead," while Saturday brings a screening of "The Reanimator." During the day on Saturday will be two matinee performances designed for children, and featuring a costume contest.
Downtown needs a vital Broadway, and a big part of that is promoting life in the great historic theaters. Events like the Spooktacular are great for showing what's possible in these old venues.
LATHF head Hillsman Wright sends word of the following opportunities to get involved in the show. Those interested should email support@lathf.org or call Hillsman at 310-403-0865.
