D-town Burger Bar Gets a Slick New Sign
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — D-town Burger Bar and nearby Crack Gallery got slick new signs Friday, part of the transformation of the retail space in the Hayward Hotel. The under-construction eatery already had an eye-catching ad plastered over its floor-to-ceiling glass front.
Inside, the space is dominated by a curved bar that'll provide seating in the "modern 50's style diner." The project's being managed by Eric Shomof, whose family owns the Hayward and several other nearby buildings. No opening date has been set.
A few doors down, similar signage was hung over Crack Gallery, the recently opened clothing and art retailer also run by Shomof.

Super cool. I love the mix of modern-contemporary with the old and historic. I think they can both live in balance and harmony :) I love walking down by 6th and Spring and seeing how much it has changed..for the better.

I just have to say, that the amount of interesting things coming downtown that are fun, well done and unique is REALLY exciting. This place is just one little piece of it. So, forget the financial crisis and whether your condo is tanking - downtown rocks!

I love the "Los Angeles" part of the sign. Let's get more restaurants proudly display they're in LA!

we just moved into the SB Manhattan right across he street from the Hayward Hotel. We are SO glad when we saw the renovations. It makes walking down 6th. so much better. WE CAN NOT WAIT TO TAKE OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY THERE! Stumble out the front door, jaywalk and we're in the front doors...

So, what does "Modern 50's style diner" mean? Isn't that an oxymoron? hehe

Funny the mexican restaurant near FIDM was bought out to be used for a very similar concept. I know the focus is burgers...
