DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Back in August, blogdowntown joked that the massive L.A. Live complex would open before modest Lower Angels Knoll park, then two months behind schedule.
L.A. Live's second phase officially kicked off on December 4, with the tree lighting ceremony and opening of the Conga Room. The park? It opened on Wednesday, December 10, a mere five and a half months after the June 30 date promised this spring.
An RFP on the construction job was put out in September of 2006. The contract was awarded that December, to the only bidder -- Thomsen Landscaping.
It remains to be seen just how the new park, always a favorite with pigeons, will be used. On a visit this morning, one person sat on the recycled wood benches while another urinated against the retaining wall.

Sometimes I get the feeling they're actually reading this blog... Scary. Angels Flight in January, pretty please?

JM - yes, I second that. Wouldn't it be awfully nice to have it back?
