Main street's Nickel Diner has quickly become a Downtown mainstay, so readers should be excited to hear that this evening the eatery adds its long-awaited dinner hours, offering service until 11pm.

The restaurant was recently named Los Angeles Magazine's third best new restaurant, part of an impressive streak of acclaim the spot has received since its August opening.

While the restaurant is now open for breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Sunday, dinner will be served only Tuesday through Saturday.

Breakfast and lunch are offered from 8:30am to 3:30pm, with dinner service kicking off at 6pm. The dinner menu carries over much of the lunch fare, but adds a few new entrees as well.

Cool. I went the other night and the bike cops told me it wasn't open for dinner. I tried not to get angry and lump that experience into the countless other ones I've had downtown with showing up to shuttered restaurants.

THANK YOU FOR ADDING DINNER HOURS!!!! WE WILL SHOW UP!!!!

Anyone else feel that the diner has been going down in service and quality? I went twice back before November and it was fantastic, but the two times since the new year have been horrible, both with the service and the food.

I'm not sure if the popularity is just making it difficult to adjust, but I just checked out yelp and alot of other people have the same issues it looks like.

went there last night for dinner and tried the double stuffed chicken. delicious. it wasn't crowded at al and there was an entirely different waitstaff (except for one). they may not have been a supremely confident, well-oiled machine, but they were friendly, prompt, and attentive.

my only complaint was that they ran out of red velvet cake - one of my dinner companions ordered the last one! however, i tried the cheesecake in its stead. delicious. ok, i guess i have no complaints.

The Nickle WILL be back open for dinner soon! They just need a stable line Cook is all. Getting a good one is like herding cat's. Monica can't do everything herself! Although, I wouldn't mind if she cooked my food for me forever and ever and ever and ever, Amen. ;)
