Services for Fallen Culver City Officer Held Downtown
Ed Fuentes
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Under gray skies and pelting rain, services for Lt. Curtis Massey were held this morning at Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. 20 minutes before the funeral procession for Massey was to begin, the rain slowed to sprinkles.
Members of LAFD Fire Company Units 4 and 20 raised ladders on Grand Avenue before lining up to salute the fallen officer.
Then family, friends, and officers wearing black and toting umbrellas filed into marked, unmarked cars and coach buses to follow the procession to Holy Cross Cemetery on the west side.
The final vehicle was a Culver City tow truck carrying an American flag.
Massey, 41, is survived by a wife and three young children. The Culver City police department announced today that he was being posthumously promoted from sergeant to lieutenant.

A tragedy. Thank you for the sensitive report on the service.
