Around the Halls: March 9-11

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — It's Monday, March 9, and it's a light week for Downtown items on the Council calendar. As usual, money is a big topic, and Monday's only item is a meeting of Budget & Finance. Other items wind their way through Council after previously showing up in committee, including a contract with the Project for Public Spaces to look at streets as placemaking.
MONDAY: Only one meeting on the schedule, with Budget & Finance committee gathering at 2pm to discuss financials, including six closed session items. No Downtown-specific items, but pension plans will report on their financial state and the Chief Administrative Officer will report on lower gas tax revenues.
TUESDAY: Council and three committees are in session.
At Council, CF 07-1351 is a hearing for the renewal for the Little Tokyo BID.
Item 16 is CF 09-0277, the CRA contract with Project for Public Spaces that went through committee last week. Broadway and the Gilbert Lindsay Plaza at the Convention Center are both possible demonstration sites.
Item 29, CF 08-2593 moves various funds around as part of the Alexandria Hotel settlement.
WEDNESDAY: Council's back in session, and one committee meets.
At Council, Item 16 is CF 08-2019, a Perry motion asking that various departments report back on potential park sites in the Historic Core. Given that the city just recently acquired a park site there, it doesn't seem likely they would quickly find another.
Transportation committee, which normally meets on Wednesdays, will be meeting on Thursday afternoon instead. An agenda has not yet been posted.
