Blue October lead singer Justin Furstenfeld performs during a January show in the Netherlands.

Texas-bred rock band Blue October comes to Club Nokia on Saturday night, and blogdowntown has some tickets to give away to Downtowners looking to take in a show courtesy of Goldenvoice. In a twist on the normal giveaway, your admission also comes with the opportunity to show up early and meet the band.

Blue October rose to some national prominence in 2006, with appearances on late night TV and a single -- "Hate Me" -- that rose to #2 on rock charts. The band's getting set to release a new album titled "Approaching Normal" just days after the L.A. appearance.

Interested in meeting the band on Saturday (March 21)? We've got five pairs of tickets to give away. Just leave a comment with your favorite product from the state of Texas (person, trend, actual product, whatever).

Entry will be closed at 9am on Friday, and winners will need to confirm via email by 3pm that day. Meet & greet will take place before the show at 7pm.

Favorite product of Texas? Gotta be all the Tex-Mex food that started there (especially NACHOS... like the kind you get at the Hard Rock Cafe along with a tall pint of Fat Tire. Mmm.)

Here's to hoping I get to see Blue October! I've been into that band since about this time last year. Funny, I always thought they were from England.

I love Goldenvoice and Blogdowntown for always holding ticket contests! Blue October is awesome...they make for an excellent road trip soundtrack!

Anyways...my fav Texas related thing is SXSW or South by Southwest Festival which just wrapped up in Austin, TX, specifically SXSW Interactive! I realllllly hope to be able to afford to go next year! It seems to be THE place to be for the web 2.0 scene. Love it!

Blue Bell Creamery Ice Cream based in Brenham, TX. THE BEST ice cream I have ever had, which unfortunately is not sold in California. I've only been able to find it in OK, AL, and TX. And trust me, even though I have relatives out there... the ice cream is always the highlight of my trips out to Texas!

Six Flags. I love roller coasters. It's called Six Flags because 6 different flags have flown over Texas. (Spain, France, Mexico, Rebublic of Texas, Confederate, and US)

When I heard Hate Me I had to see Blue October in concert and i became instantly hooked on them, they became my new obsession and I am not a groupie type person, but something about them. I as I learn more about them them more I understood my many connections with them. I was rasised in a small town Stephenville,Texas and loved growing up on a ranch and being raised old school with respect and you just don't see that enough anymore, except I see it in Blue October and it makes me miss Texas all the more and my goal this year is to go back and visit family in Texas and see Blue play in their home state.

Favorite product from Texas...David Robinson of the San Antonio Spurs...any player that would give up the dollars of the NBA and fulfill his committment to the Naval academy, has a ton of integrity, especially being as talented as he was.

Blue October..Awesome band...I would LOVE to go to this concert...Blue October really has good melodies, I used to listen to into the Ocean on my ipod when I ran, never get tired of that song. I ended a 5 year relationship with my ex, and sent her the you tube of "hate me" so she'd move on. Seems funny a couple years later. My new girlfriend loves this group too.. I live at Olympic and Flower at the Met, so can guarantee we'd show up (can also offer free guest parking to the other winners on here).

Choosing my favorite thing out of Texas is really simple, that would be Kelly Clarkson. Such a great singer and so beautiful. Just don't tell my girlfriend that. ;)

Anyway, Woohoo! for free tickets to Blue October Concert.

My favorite products from Texas hail from Austin - my two best friends, sisters Brenda and Bernie. They come complete with that Texas accent and hospitality. I would love to honor them because they live up North and I don't get to see them that often and this is one of their favorite bands from their home state of Texas.

There is no doubt in my mind that Blue is the best thing out of Texas EVER, but I have to say the massively large belt buckles are pretty freakin' cool. Who knew that adding some bling, bling to your waist would make everything in Texas bigger! And anyone can get away with wearing one....cowboys & cowgirls of course are the stereotype, but check out all our rockstars sporting them too, and they make the men (especially of Blue October) look even prettier I might add. Oh, the 'don't mess with Texas' stickers are killer too. What other state has their own logo? None that I've heard of....or at least none cool enough to hear about....

That's my two sense, thanks for the opportunity...very unique contest. I'd love for my daughter to meet the guys so I wish myself luck!

I was born in Houston, raised in Orange County and chose to go back to Texas for college. I've lived in two different cultural extremes and I have to say the best thing that Texas has to offer is its combination of passion and pride. It doesn't matter if you were an 12th Man Aggie or a Baylor Bear (like myself); a Texas Rangers fan or a Houston Astros fan; a BBQ lover or a Tex-Mex fanatic.

Whether you're Texan or just Texan at heart, when you love something you always do it Texas-style: You go big or you go home. That's how Blue October performs every one of their shows and that's why they're my favorite band.

Texas bbq...my favorite food in the world. Anyway, hope I win a pair of tickets for Blue October.

Take care.
