DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Tomorrow night the neighborhood is invited to stop by the Continental Building at 4th and Spring to meet LAPD Central Division's new Captains, Blake Chow and Daryl Russell.
Edgar Varela and Lilli Muller are hosting the drop-in, which runs from 4 - 7pm.
For Chow, his new stint as Central's Commanding Officer is a third trip Downtown. He served as a footbeat officer in the early 1990s, then became patrol captain in 2003. He returns to Central after acting as Commanding Officer in the Hollenbeck Division.
Russell, Central's new patrol captain, is a 30-year LAPD veteran. He's no stranger to Downtown, serving a term as Special Events Coordinator at Operations-Central Bureau. That put him in charge of planning for LAPD's involvement in events such as the Grammys and the L.A. Marathon.
The event will feature guest speakers from 5 - 5:30pm. Light food and drink will be provided.
Central's outgoing Commanding Officer, Captain Jodi Wakefield, will be honored on Tuesday, April 7th, with a happy hour at Royal Clayton's thanking Wakefield for her service to Downtown. That event is scheduled from 5:30 - 7:30pm. Royal Clayton's is at 1855 Industrial St.
