It's Monday, April 6, and Council wants to name the new LAPD Headquarters south of City Hall "Parker Center." Also on the agendas this week, a restaurant operator for 2nd and Main, possible sale of city parking meters, and a hearing on allowing Cedd Moses to expand his growing empire of Downtown bars into the Industrial District.

MONDAY: Two committees and meeting: Public Safety and Budget and Finance. The latter will hear CF 09-0552, a City Attorney report declaring that the special election for the Grand Avenue Community Taxing District passed. Previously CF CF 07-0332, this is the vehicle to keep hotel and parking taxes on-site. The vote was 4-0 in favor, not exactly a surprise since Grand Avenue L.A., LLC, was the only entity voting.

TUESDAY: Council's in session, and three committees join it on the calendar.

At Council, CF 08-1117 is a DOT report on the rather appalling outlook for Prop A funding of DASH and Commuter Express. Council will be authorizing the department to hire a consultant to do a detailed review of services.

Council will also approve CF 09-0099, authorizing DOT to submit for Metro's upcoming Call for Projects. The motion also includes the instruction to:

AUTHORIZE the LADOT to include the Downtown Los Angeles Street Car project in the Final Project List previously provided to the MTA for inclusion into the strategic section of the 2008 Long Range Transportation Plan.

At Information Technology and General Services is CF 09-0546, a motion by Councilmembers Parks, Smith, Perry and Zine to name the new LAPD Headquarters "Parker Center," the same as the old LAPD Headquarters.

CF 09-0463 is a General Services request to approve "LA Reflections" as the winning respondent in the RFP to operate a restaurant in the new Parker Center. From the report:

A full-service restaurant, LA Reflections will offer a variety of main dishes, salads, sandwiches, side orders, soups, and beverages within a retail space in the PAB at the Northwest corner of 2nd and Main Streets.

Finally, CF 09-0728 is a 76-page CAO report relative to the potential of selling city parking assets, including meters and the Pershing Square garage, to a private entity.

WEDNESDAY: Council and three committees are on the calendar.

At Council, CF 09-0622 is a motion to make a "Determination of Public Convenience or Necessity" for alcohol sales at Tony's bar, 2017 E. 7th. This is an eastward expansion of Cedd Moses' 213 empire to 7th and Imperial, just south of the Biscuit Company Lofts.
