WHAT: On Saturday, April 4, approximately two thousand marchers took to the streets of Downtown Los Angeles to call for changes in federal immigration policy.

NOTABLE: While Downtown sees plenty of marches, this one deviated from the typical route. It began at Broadway and Olympic, as is typical, and began up Broadway, but then turned west on 7th street and south on Figueroa before ending at the Convention Center.

I can't believe there are still idiots carrying the Mexican flag at these protests. How dumb are they? Their whole point is to get other people in this country to support them. Are they so dumb to not realize that most American's seeing protesters demanding something while carrying a foreign nations flag will NEVER gain them public support. They really need to use their brain and ditch the foreign flag.

They take those flags with them because even though they may not be legal residents of this country, like a divorced child, they can't pick one parent over the other and they express their love for both even though they can't be with both. There's nothing wrong in being proud of where you came from T28. Like most Americans, you being one of them, you fail to understand that because you've called this wonderful country home your whole life. They haven't. In order to know where your going, you have to know where you came from.

The foreign flags dont really bug me, what bugs me a bit is seeing people with their favorite soccer teams jerseys. But we all have a word when it comes to protests right?

You missed my point El Random Hero. My point was not that people should not have pride in there ancestoral origins. My point was that they are protesting to gain some rights or to obtain something. Therefore, the protests are to publicize their plight and therefore get more people to support them. So, my pioint is that carrying Mexican flags will not do this but will actually cause many people to not support their cause. If you will read my previous post again, you will see that is what I said.

I am proud of my acenstory and my wife, who is an immigrant, is proud of hers as well.

1.- I am from Mexico, been living here about 7 years, and YES, I think that if you want to live in this country you should declare your loyalty the moment you enter. You can't come in just for the benefit, you have to belong. It's like sleeping with someone else's wife and tell her everyday that your wife is more pretty.... what? no, nevermind, scratch that one last line...

2.-For some reason this march was really small, I wonder why, maybe activists got lazy? who knows, anyway, I'm really glad they went on to do a square and become mindful of traffic. Maybe next time they could also clean the streets as they go or something mindful like that... clean the windows... take your pic.

3.- I think the government has also failed from the beggining to educate and promote loyalty to the country among immigrants, what could be more important than that?

Whenever Mexicans tell me how much their country, I point out they are in mine. Sadly, their love is unrequited. After spending time in Mexico, I understand that while Mexicans may love Mexico, their country doesn't love them back. Mexico hates them. 'Tis very sad. I wish they'd come to grips with that. If the loved their country and she loved them, they'd be together.

I agree, brandishing the flag of Mexico is dumb politics.

Oscar, the reason the march was so small due to the fact that so many illegal workers have returned to Mexico due to the bad economy. Just kidding. I think it wasn't publicized well.

Haha... but seriously, last time I went to Mexico (about a year ago) my friends down there told me that Canada was the new California, conditions and salaries were better and Canada embraced them with love...

And Mr. Kennedy, Mexico does not hate mexicans, it only hates poor people and indigenists that's why they migrate... just my 5 cents.
