Tuesday: Councilmembers Huizar, Perry and Reyes at DLANC Meet and Greet
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — On Tuesday, April 14, Councilmembers Jose Huizar (CD14), Jan Perry (CD9) and Ed Reyes (CD1) will be in attendance for a special meeting of the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council's Board of Directors. The three each represent a portion of Downtown, and the neighborhood council has scheduled time before the meeting for Downtowners to come by and say hello to their elected officials.
Downtown's triple representation is the result of some creatively drawn council district boundaries.
Huizar's 14th District includes Boyle Heights and even Mt. Washington, but also a large chunk of Central City East and most of the Broadway corridor. That includes the block on each side of Broadway, so those living on the west side of Spring can be in Huizar's district where those on the east are not.
Reyes' 1st District covers the area west of the 110 freeway, and north of the 101, encompassing City West and Chinatown.
The rest of Downtown falls into Perry's 9th District, which also includes a large chunk of South L.A..
Tuesday's meet-and-greet kicks off at 6pm at the Los Angeles Theatre, 615 S. Broadway Tower Theatre, 802 S. Broadway. The board meeting itself is slated to begin at 6:30pm, with the councilmembers getting a chance to share some remarks before the council moves into its regular agenda.

Mr. Mayor AV and Jose Huizar Councilmen CD14, do not let the Federal Government add one more homeless shelter in Boyle Heights, the plans are for the Old Social Security Office on Breed and Cesar Chavez. Boyle Heights has more than its share of homeless, rehav shelters, women shelters and so on, PLEASE NO MORE for Boyle Heights, other cities like Costa Mesa need to take some of their responsibility.
The Federal Government took away our historical jewish community center to build a new Social Security and in return they want to give us another homeless shelter that we definetly do not need. Why not give us a community center, since in right accross the only historical Jewish building left to restore.

Forgive my ignorance about neighborhood council meetings, but I have never attended one and would be interested in staying after the "meet-and-greet". Can neighbors stay, or is it for Board members only? Do the councilmen/women only want the neighbors to say "hello", or can we complain/discuss topics such as the proposal to take over the Rosslyn Hotel with druggies and mentally ill? I want our Council-people to go tell that New York group, that want to displace the Rosslyn tenants, to get outta D.T. The Rosslyn is an architectual wonder and I want to see it preserved and well taken care of, not turned into a flop house so that some greedy group can bankroll some grant money.

The Meet and Greet is for everyone, but for the more in depth stuff you may do better writing an email or a letter.
