Little LA Cafe Adds Big Late Night Hours

What Spring street's LA Cafe lacks in size, it makes up for in ambition. Starting this Thursday, the tiny cafe will be staying open until 4am Thursday through Saturday nights, offering delivery until 3:30am and free regular coffee after midnight.

It's a big first step toward owner David Bakhshi's dream of seeing the eatery open 24-hours.

Bakhshi reopened LA Cafe (639 S. Spring; 213-612-3000) in late 2006, taking over the name and space in Spring Tower Lofts from a previous ownership.

In November of 2007 the cafe launched a greatly expanded menu, focusing on paninis, salads, wraps to go along with coffees, desserts and pastries.

The new late-night hours are a big move for an eatery regularly open until 9pm (and only 5pm on Saturday). Bakhshi sees the cafe as somewhere that guests will come and hang out into the night. The eatery offers sidewalk seating and free WIFI.

Congratulations to David and all at LA Cafe. They are truly a neighborhood fixture on Spring St. and we love having them so close by. With the two new bars scheduled to open at the 626 Spring address across the street LA Cafe will be the perfect late-night dining option once everyone else closes at 2 AM.

I've been a regular customer at this cafe since it opened and have never had a customer service issue.

Shifting my coffee habit to include LA Cafe in support of their longer hours. Right now I'm split between JJ's, Spring for Coffee and LA Cafe. Thanks for supporting the community with the expanded hours!

Delivery should be free on May 16, 2009, at 07:15PM – #8

They might lose some business charging $ 1 50 delivery service when so many cafes deliver for free.

Spring for Coffee has the best coffee downtown.

Truly excellent food, from little things like cookies to bigger stuff like sandwiches and meals. Carefully prepared with quality ingredients. Prompt delivery, great staff and never made a mistake in 2 years of delivery orders.
