GRAMMY-winning songwriter Nanci Griffith pays a visit to the GRAMMY Museum's 200-seat Sound Stage on Monday, June 8, to talk about her upcoming release "The Loving Kind," described as one of the most politically outspoken albums of her career. We've got tickets to send some blogdowntown readers to see the show.

The night kicks off the museum's new series titled "The Drop," in which musicians visit to discuss albums just being released.

Griffith's "The Loving Kind" is in stores the day after her visit to Downtown. It's her nineteenth album. "As an institution dedicated to the exploration of the creative process, we are excited to offer fans the chance to hear from such a prolific songwriter in such a personal way," museum Executive Director Robert Santelli said in a press release.

More information on the show and ticket purchase information can be found on the GRAMMY Museum website.

A little extra incentive to make it to the show? Monday is one of the eligible days for L.A. Live's new Downtown discount program, which offers deals at restaurants in the complex.

We've got five pairs of tickets to give to blogdowntown readers. Just leave a comment letting us know why you would like to see the show, and make sure to leave contact info (sign in via Facebook or leave an email). We'll close off the giveaway Friday at noon.

I want to win because my parents LOVE Nanci Griffith and as a child growing up listening to her, I never appreciated it, but now that I am older I realize how good she is. Plus, I live downtown! and I read this blog. And I follow you on twitter! and I never win anything, so I think this would be a good place to start!

Thanks!

I still haven't been to the Grammy Museum and I'm a huge music fan!

I have been a fan of NG since the late 80's, and saw her live several times back in Philadelphia.

Not long after my ex and I first moved out here (in '93) Nanci played a show at the Wiltern. I forget what the ticket price was, but the extra charges added up to nearly 50% more. The worst was the "facility charge" which I had never heard of before. "What's that?" I asked. "It's a charge to allow you to use the facility," they responded. "Funny, I thought that that was what a ticket was for."

In frustration, I refused to buy the tickets, and I have not seen Nanci live since!

Please reunite me with this wonderful performer!

Biggest fans. Own every Nanci LP, tape, and CD. Live in New England, but will fly out to LA for this great opportunity. Last saw Nanci a year or two ago at similar small venue, the Regattabar in Harvard Square.

Recently dumped by a snobby Westsider, this gal who live/loves DT could use a pick-me-up. Thanks for considering!
