Woman Dead After Fall From Hayward Fire Escape
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — 6th street was closed from Broadway to Spring street this evening as LAPD officers investigated a woman's fatal fall from a fire escape on the Hayward Hotel. As of 10:30pm, a white sheet covered the body where it lay in the alley just south of 6th street.
Just down the sidewalk, a handful of Hayward residents stood near the entrance to their building, sharing conjecture on what might have taken place. They decided that no one had heard any gunshots, but did discuss the possibility of foul play.
The Hayward Hotel, located at the corner of 6th and Spring, contains 525 units of Section 8 affordable housing. The building was renovated as affordable housing in the early 1990s and went through a tumultuous period of violence and crime before becoming much more stable in recent years.
The building is now owned by Pacific Investments, which also owns Premiere Towers, Spring Tower Lofts, City Lofts and the Milano Lofts.

I didn't know her, but I saw her down here daily. she seemed nice, but was always alone. Did anybody know her? did she have family or friends?

Yes, she had lots of family out of state and had a beautiful memorial sevrvice in her home town. She will be missed by all of her family.

Cheryl I. Donalds she went by the nickname SHERRY and was 36 yrs old. she fell from the 12th floor apt at the hayward hotel Downtown LA June 9th 2009 And died I care for this woman dearly and love her with all my heart. iam searching for any info on her life and last days. if anyone has any info about this young lady . iam still searching for anyone whom Knew Sherry or knew anuyone whom knew her by her real Name Cheryl I. Donalds (sherry) had traveled across the country several times if anyone has anything of hers personal. photos art clothes belongings of any kind Pleas contact me as back in 2005 all her belogings were stolen in her RV.i only seek these items so they can return home to her family or to me the 1st year is about to come up since she passed. I sit broken hearted here in minnesota and any info or any of her items would be so important to me Thank You

Michael - it's very sad to hear that you have not found anything. If she lived in the Hayward, the building management would probably have been the ones to clear her apartment. If you haven't already, perhaps you should speak with them.

Thank you so much for the info, iam still looking for anyone whom knew her in the building including a gentleman she had dinner with that eve that also lived in the building, cheryl also about 6 years ago had a boy friend run off with her RV and all her belongings if anyone ever comes across anything with her name or her property Please!!! contact me it seems as if its all been lost. but i have faith i may still find some or any info please contact ME!! i love this woman forever and well what more can a man say.
