A Little Note on My Monday Plans

A pre-opening shot of Bottega Louie's pizza oven.

In an attempt to ward off some questions, I think it worthwhile to note that I will be spending my day Monday at Bottega Louie, shooting product and interior shots for the restaurant.

Perhaps it says something about how small Downtown is that I even feel the need to post this, but I know plenty of readers will see me in there and be curious about what is going on.

The shoot is a personal gig, and not related to blogdowntown. Accepting money from a company that we have covered and will likely cover again is always something that raises questions, though, so in any story I write that mentions Bottega Louie I'll be sure to include a little disclosure noting the work.

I'll be on-site most of the day, so feel free to stop by and say hi or make fun of my photography. Just remember that I'm on the clock, so don't be surprised if I put you to work holding a reflector.

While you're at it, Eric R, and before your assignment for BL ends for the day, can you ask the owners why they've never bothered to put up anything on all their walls? I thought they originally were going to hang large paintings throughout their restaurant.

I know some of BL's patrons prefer the look of all the plain, bare white walls, but when I was in there a few days ago I couldn't help feeling something was missing. To me it seems like the interior designer skipped out at the last minute.

Still a rather nice restaurant, and their food was good, but the interior of BL, while pleasantly spacious, could be even better or more finished looking.

1 weekly rag that I used to work for part-time shooting would do restaurant reviews but not mention the review was actually part of a paid ad package deal. Which I thought was a bit dishonest.

I love the decor the way it is. I think if they put anything on the walls it would be too busy. It's clean and classy.

In reference to Bottega Louie. Go for the food. Yum !

The decor ?

Less is more.

Let's keep the white walls...but add baby changing tables to the restrooms!

Hope this place is around for a long time, it's always packed when I walk by...

BL is perfect without art on its walls.

It's such a sexy, bold looking restaurant. The art already exists in the ongoing, ever changing performance that goes on outside the massive windows.

Is a baby changing table those hideous things on the wall with a blue plastic bear on them or something similar?

Yes, baby changing tables are those things on the wall with the blue plastic bear; they can also be in the form of a table or dedicated counter top. Visually hideous or not, changing tables are essential for those who require a change of diaper... Changing table = stylish restroom? "Make it work!"

Classy? If one wants classy, just hang an Alexis Smith on one or more of those walls.

Yep, BL certainly generates a lot of activity at that intersection. Imagine how much more activity there'd be if the units upstairs were occupied. Any status update on that?
