Workers install glass paneling on the Ritz Carlton tower at L.A. Live as fans stream into the Michael Jackson memorial service below.

Despite the commotion and closures that surrounded Tuesday's memorial service for Michael Jackson, construction work on L.A. Live's Ritz Carlton tower continued. Crews hit a milestone yesterday, removing the second of the construction lifts that had originally scaled the 54-story building.

As soon as the lift equipment was removed, crews got to work installing glass wall panels into the resulting void that rises on the east face of the tower.

The panels are some of the last bits scheduled to be raised by the tower crane that still stands over the structure.

Once finished, the structure will hold the 879-room J.W. Marriott (floors four through 21), the 123-room Ritz Carlton hotel (floors 22 through 26) and the 224-unit Residences at the Ritz Carlton (floors 27 through 52).

The hotels are scheduled to open on February 15, 2010.
