So You Think You Can Dance Tour

Top contestants from the FOX reality show "So You Think You Can Dance" will hit the road this fall, taking a mix of routines from the show and new numbers to arenas across the country.

Tickets for all dates, including a November 9 date at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live, go on sale this Saturday, July 25, but we've got early passes for blogdowntown readers who want to waltz their way into the theatre this fall.

The tour will feature the top ten contestants from the show's fifth season, which kicked off in May on FOX. Eight of the ten remain in the running for the show's top spot.

Tickets for the show range from $38 to $56. Ticketmaster links and more information can be found on the tour site.

Courtesy of AEG Live, we've got two pairs of tickets to the tour's Nokia Theatre show for blogdowntown readers interested in circling November 9 on their calendar. To win, just leave a comment saying why you should be chosen to see the show. Be sure to include an email address or login via Facebook. Contest closes Friday at noon, a day before tickets go on sale to the public.

Well,

I'm leaving the first comment, and I know I can't dance, so I would love to see some people who think they can dance, because they should be somewhat better than myself.

Also I just RT'ed it so that you guys can get mad hits to your list.

I should be chosen because my wife loves this show, and as any good husband should, I can make her very happy by taking her to this show. Also, I was recently laid off so our entertainment budget has dropped to 0, so an even better reason to pick me!!!

My wife watches the show religiously - as a matter of fact it takes up space on our DVR because she goes back to watch old episodes.

I admit to watching for Cat Deeley. No shame in that.

Thanks for the contest - would love to surprise the Ms. with tickets.

OMG - I watch this show religiously every week! I love that the producers showcase different choreographers and challenge the dancers to go outside of their own styles to learn something different. I've learned so much about dance on this show - and am looking forward to doing some dance/exercise classes at this new studio in Echo Park. I'd love to see Caitlin on stage again. And Ade is just supremely fantastic. I can't decide...I really enjoy all the dancers that are left in the competition at this stage and would love to see them live! Pick me! :)

I would love to go to this show, especially if I win (because I can't afford to buy them)

i have been a huge fan of sytycd since the first season. Not only is the talent amazing, but I love watching these amazing dancers grow and be given the chance to perform their lifes passion on a world stage. I love the choreography but also watching how each dancer makes it uniquely their own and interpretting it with the partners they've grown bonds with.

I once saw Mia Michaels at a restaurant and had to interrupt her diner to tell her how much the piece she did about seeing her father again in heaven affected me. I told her how I cried and thanked her for sharing something so personal with the world. She was so gracious and kind.

Please pick me!

ok, here goes. i love SYTYCD so much however since the transition to HD i have consistently had bad reception with channel 11 (i don't have cable). it's pretty much the only show i watch on TV outside of football. week after week, crappy signal. last week i decided to go buy a new antenna and hook it up but i still had a crappy signal from channel 11. after missing most of the first hour of the show dealing with this i finally found the sweet spot. i ended up sitting about 2 feet from the TV holding the antenna up in the air for the remainder of the program because that's where it picked up the signal the best...not sitting on the back of the TV like it should, no. instead i looked like a sitting statue of liberty with my antenna in hand. and i guess that's how i'll be watching the rest of the season too.

thanks for considering me.

My roommate and I are HUGE fans of the show! Plus, we live directly across from the Staples Center and therefore LA Live and would love for once to be inside the venue instead of out, just hearing the festivities happen. We were literally trapped inside our apartment for every Lakers game, for the Lakers parade, and Michael Jackson's funeral, just to name a few, since we moved in. Please give us the opportunity of a lifetime and let us go to the SYTYCD show live! Thanks for the opportunity!!

Oh Blog Downtown,

I'm not really sure what I can say that will set me apart from this impressive crowd of fans, but I'm going to do my best. One of my dearest friends and I have been HUGE fans of the show since day one - from the days of Lauren Sanchez, Nick, Melody, a new show and a dream to showcase hungry up and comers doing things I can only ever dream of doing - up to now with sensational Cat Deeley and dancers like Jeanine and Jason who continue to amaze. Why we have never been to the tour before probably has something to do with the fact that the first time we were poor college students and later poor post-graduates. Haha. But we still watch religiously every Wednesday and Thursday either together in person, via AIM, via text message, or it's the first thing we discuss the following morning. We watched the "Bleeding Love" routine at least 15x the night it debuted last season, attempting to memorize the entire choreography. Were we successful? Umm...surely we get points for effort. :) We are the first to see the "Step Up" movies, supporting SYTYCD choreographers, and are counting down the days to "Fame" (welcome back to our lives, Kherington!) To be able to see these incredible dancers with our own eyes would be ineffable.

You know that feeling where a person or thing knocks the wind out of you without even physically touching you? That is this show. Thanks for the opportunity. ;)

I'd take my daughter Connie if I won a pair. I'd try to buy a third seat for her little brother Eamon. Connie and Eamon could sit together to enjoy each other's company and I could take the separate single seat. There's a third child (Jessie), but she starts college this Fall and won't be home to go to the show. We're all breathless for the show. Jessie is 18, Connie is 12, Eamon is 8 (and I'm old).

Back when Jessie was struggling in high school (and I mean really struggling academically), I banned TV, which was easy because our TV was on the blink. We had to bang its side several times throughout any viewing session to get the screen to turn back on. But then her theatre teacher made it mandatory for students to watch SYTYCD. I checked with the teacher to see if this were true, which it was. So we all started watching.

We've been watching for the last four seasons (somehow we hadn't even heard of it in its first season). We arrange our week so we can be there as the two consecutive nights air. The rest of the year, we go back and watch our recordings of favorite dances and long for the next season to begin. I can't believe a reality TV show has hooked us so! Previously I was always so opposed to the shift from scripted TV to reality shows. You should never say never, I suppose.

Jessie and Connie started dance classes because of the show. In fact, they just walked home together last night from a place on Sunset at the corner of Micheltorena that has amazing drop-in hiphop classes. They were drenched from all the exercise and elated from all the endorphins. They really are lovely to be around when they've been exercising because they are nicer, happier people.

We're a happy group of people and we look for ways to keep the happy alive. Their dad isn't around except on very rare occasion, but I don't tell you that to elicit pity. We're a satisfied, joyous family the way we are, especially these days since Jessie got accepted to a good college.

We're completely in love with SYTYCD. I have a king-size bed, and we all squeeze into it to watch. It's a big opportunity to bond together. It could be said that SYTYCD has made us enjoy each other more. We judge the dance numbers before we hear the real judges' opinions. One perk of this is that Eamon is learning to find his critical voice. He's full of opinion about the execution of these dances and he jockeys to insert his words among what his sisters say about the performances. It's lovely to hear.

Now, money is exceedingly tight (as it is for so many). I'm an associate teacher at a grade school. And with all the mounting college expenses, winning tickets would be a huge boon in my day tomorrow. I hope we win. But if we don't, I hope the winners are wonderful people and great fans of the show. And I hope they have a really fantastic time at the Nokia. I also want to thank you for the chance to win tickets. Presale code tomorrow is GETTIX on ticketmaster.

Some of our very favorite dances include (if you don't already know these dances, look them up on youtube, they're a huge treat):

  1. Most recently, Jeanine's solo last night. I believe it's the best solo danced on the show ever
  2. Jeanine and Jason's It Kills Me choreographed by Travis (a Season 3 contestant and now great choreographer in his own right; he choreographed last night's opening group number)
  3. Katee and Will's Imagine pas de deux (despite Katee's clumsy head moment) choreographed by Desmond Richardson and Dwight Rhoden
  4. Chelsea and Mark's Bleeding Love choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon
  5. Katee and Twitch's Mercy routine with the door on stage choreographed by Mia
  6. Katee and Joshua's No Air choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon
  7. Sabra and Neil's Sweet Dreams choreographed by Mandy Moore
  8. Travis and Benji's Gyrate choreographed by Shane Sparks

Good luck to all. And thank you again.

I love watching the show and if I won tickets, I would take my husband Jim. On the night of the show, we'd need a dogsitter for Wonton and we'd probably go out to an expensive dinner, take a cab there and back, maybe even stop for a nightcap somewhere, which means I'd be spending beaucoup bucks on downtown businesses and services. So if blogdowntown cares at all about downtown's economic success - you'll make sure I win tickets.
