Elevate's view from the 21st floor puts guests at eye-level with several surrounding buildings.

Two years ago today, Elevate Lounge opened on the 21st floor of 811 Wilshire. Along with Takami Sushi, which opened a few days later, the restaurant and lounge occupy 14,000 square feet, half of which is outdoor patio space.

At the time it opened, much was made of the $4 million that the owners supposedly put into rehabbing the former office floor. Two years in, the pair of establishments still boast what's arguably the best view in Downtown nightlife.

Downtown has seen a number of high profile openings in recent years, and it's easy to forget about "older" establishments. It's not easy to survive as a high-end space in today's market, so it's worth taking note of those that do.

Update (Tuesday): Just in the email box this morning:

Takami Sushi & Robata Restaurant + Elevate Lounge in downtown LA is celebrating their two-year anniversary, and guests will enjoy 50% off the entire inventory of Sake & Wine Sunday, August 9 through Thursday, August 13.

Elevate Lounge is also hosting a Customer Appreciation Anniversary Party on Wednesday, August 12 from 9:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. with a hosted Grey Goose vodka bar and tray passed appetizers for the first hour.
