The Faint perform at April show in Washington D.C.

Indie rockers The Faint headline a bill with Moving Units and AutoErotique at Club Nokia on Sunday, August 30, and we've got tickets for you to see the show courtesy of Goldenvoice.

The Faint formed in Omaha, NE, over a decade ago, originally going by the name Norman Bailer in an incarnation that included Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes.

Opening are local dance-rockers Moving Units and Canadian electro band AutoErotique.

We've got five pairs of tickets to give away. Just leave a comment saying why you should win, and make sure to log in via Facebook or leave an email so that we can contact you if you win. Contest closes at midnight on Thursday night.

I've only been able to see the Faint once and I wasn't really able to enjoy the show because the crowd was BEYOND douchey!!! I'd love the chance to see them again with a much better crowd. AND I've somehow missed Moving Units EVERY time they've been in town! sigh Thanks guys! You're awesome!

I've a mom who hasn't been to a concert in over a year since my lovely was born. I'd like to re-enter the concert scene with one of my favorite bands!

I LOVE the faint! I saw them once, but actually had to leave the show early because I was about to pass out from the heat of the crowd and dehydration. I would love to see them in Club Nokia, a venue that is very close to my school USC but that I have never been into since ticket prices are usually out of my price range! Please pick me!

I've loved The Faint for years. The only time I've been to one of their live performances was when they played at the Wiltern...and even then I didn't SEE them at all. Tall people who stand in front of short people are kind of jerks. I'd love to go to this show and actually SEE them play if I can.

I love the new album and would love to see them live for the first time! I wanted to see them at Street Scene but I have to work all Saturday, so that's so nice of them to drop by my backyard for a (free?!) show.

Thanks for the chance!

to put it simply, the faint are incredible. when i first heard "danse macabre," i'd never heard a record like that, and it completely changed the way i looked at music at that time in my life. through the years they've never failed me - their music is exciting, inspired, innovative...and just really, really awesome. :) i'd love to see them on sunday - i could use a night of frenetic, sweaty, wild dancing! :)

I would love to go to this show! I could really use the fun - I took the bar exam a couple weeks ago and still haven't fully recovered. The Faint and Moving Units are two great bands and I think they could help me out of my funk. :) Also, I've been looking forward to checking out Club Nokia. I went to law school just a couple blocks away and had to watch enviously as the whole LA Live thing was built but I was stuck in the library. Thanks for the opportunity! You can email me at: andersam AT lls DOT edu

(Sidenote: I've been trying to register as a user of the site but it keeps giving me error messages, and when I tried to email help@blogdowntown.com it was returned as undeliverable... any thoughts? Thanks!)

i love the faint. i should win. can i play the pity card? a month a half ago my live-in boyfriend broke up with me - i came home to all my stuff packed up in boxes. and oh, did i mention? i was coming home from the hospital where i had just found out that i had cancer. FTW. so anyway i've been kicking cancer's ass + having a damn good time doing it, but i'd love to involve the faint in my good time :)

I love love love The Faint! Club Nokia would be the PERFECT place to see them! I saw The Cult there last weekend and it was amazing! The Faint are the best live band and I'm ready to dance!!! If I win, I will sing your praises on every social media site! Please pick me!

Kitty Lyon on August 27, 2009, at 05:36PM – #15

I promise to dance harder, faster, AND stronger than any other fan there. Best of all, I guarantee that I will actually GO and not just sit on the tickets. I love all of the bands, I'm local, and I'm broke. How else can I prove I need these sweet puppies? Gimme gimme gimme. Pretty Please?

I have been a huge supporter of Downtown for years, I have lived here 6-years and have had a business here for over three years. I do my part to make this part of town great just like Blogdowntown does, I take one person at a time and show them the collective treasures and people that make this part of town so amazing and different. I have been to almost every restaurant (most the week they open) and strive to introduce "my" downtown to all my friends around the city. I have not yet made it to the Nokia Club, mostly due to scheduling, but I would love to go and check it out, the added bonus would be that I really like The Faint and Moving Units, additionally I would bring one more friend that is not from Downtown and together we will convert one more believer in downtown. One person at a time, we can keep making downtown amazing.

Once I met a cute boy. And we talked for a while and I thought i was losing him but...then Moving Units came up. Suddenly he was all impressed that I knew a cool band and he thought i was neato. And that's good, because i like being neato. Skip to the end...I got laid. Thank you Moving Units.

But I've never seen them live.

And then The Faint came on my ipod on shuffle at my party tonight. And a friend mentioned this contest involving not only Moving Units (who got me laid) but also The Faint (who will get me laid if I am allowed to go to their show tomorrow. you watch. I will send pictures....or at least blog about it for you.)

So there it is. And to round it out, I promise to buy an AutoErotique album there as I may get laid in the future to them.

And with the past, present and future covered, I may sleep easy tonight. Good day, sir.
