Win Tickets to See The Avett Brothers at the Orpheum
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — North Carolina folk-rockers The Avett Brothers come to the historic Orpheum Theatre on Saturday, September 5, and we've got a chance for a couple lucky blogdowntown readers to win a pair of tickets courtesy of Goldenvoice.
The band -- made up of brothers Scott and Seth Avett and bassist Bob Crawford -- is on the verge of releasing a new album, its first on a major label. "I and Love and You" hits stores September 29.
The band also just got a plug from Oprah in the August edition of her magazine.
Opening the show is Oregon-based Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside.
Want to go see the show? We've got two pairs of tickets to give away. Just leave a comment telling us why you should win, and be sure to leave content info via Facebook or email. Contest closes Thursday at 8pm.
Update (Friday): Congratulations to winners ndevelopment and Michael Murphy!
See the band perform an unplugged set in the "studio" of NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series.

Because every time this band's come to town, I've always had another show I had to go that I already purchased tickets for and have not been able to seen them live. Plus, I'm first, right?

I think I should win because the group of friends I was with at the SF Outside Lands music festival this past weekend wanted to see Matt & Kim instead of The Avett Brothers! So I didn't get the chance to see them in SF, so hopefully you guys will be nice enough to give me another opportunity to witness great music by The Avett Brothers!

Because I'm just learning how to play the banjo and I need a little inspiration; also, I think these guys rock... and could definitely teach me a few things!

I would love to go see the Avett brothers. They are one of the biggest influences on the music I play today!

I should win, because I want to have a banging birthday present for my brother but don't have the money...

Their albums are the soundtrack to my life!

Alternative Bluegrass...they gotta a name for everything these days. "Shame" from their Emotional album is the story of my life. Would die for a pair of tix!

I don't even know who they are, but if I enter this contest and don't win, it increases my chance of winning next time. Right?

I would be sad because you left me home alone
I would be sad because the tickets I don’t hold
I would be sad because I’ll miss the band that I adore
I would be sad for all my love you doth ignore
I meant what I said when I said I would
Rearrange my plans and go for you…
:)

I've never been to the Orpheum and I'd love to take my girlfriend to this show. One of our first dates was seeing the Avett Brothers.

It would be amazing to win because my coworker LOVES the Avett Brothers, and he always takes me to lunch, helps me with projects at work, and is just all around a good guy. If I could take him to the show, he would super stoked and I could repay all his generosity! He introduced me to the band through NPR, and I can't stop listening to them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abQRt6p8T7g

I love this band, but have never seen them in concert before. Based off the YouTube and NPR podcasts I've seen, their stage energy seems infectious. Also, hearing Scott Avett's incredibly loud singing/yelling voice at a live venue would be amazing.
I've also been teaching myself the guitar for the past year and I've been trying to learn their songs (luckily there's a whole tab/chord site dedicated to them: http://www.avettbrotherstabs.com/). With their next album coming out soon, it would be a great chance to preview their new work too.
I considered buying tickets earlier, but I didn't have the money. I'd appreciate the chance to see them this time.

I'm not looking to win (because I have no idea who the band is), but I just read all the entries, and I would like to put in another vote for Rachel Torres to win. Her entry seems the most unselfish, and people should be rewarded for being decent human beings.

I'd love the tickets because I think the Avett Brothers put on an amazing live show, and my boyfriend and I would love to see them.

Because I want to get swept away by the Avett Bros. and contemplate about what what this country was when music was valued! I want to indulge in the Carolina Jubilee that they are and catch the gleam in Scott's eye. I'm certain that the emotionalism evoked will procure a second gleam that will make me truly appreciate the live performance of this awesome band!
