Cleaning Up at the Ritz

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Yesterday a crew began cleaning the glass exterior of the nearly-completed Ritz Carlton tower at L.A. Live, preparation for the building's January opening date. The work offered a visual lesson on just how dirty a building gets in Los Angeles.
Glass on the lower reaches of the tower has been in place for a year, plenty of time to pick up a greater-than-healthy dose of dust and grime. The tower should look quite a bit shinier once the crew finishes a full circuit of the building.
Once finished, the 54-story tower will hold the 879-room J.W. Marriott (floors four through 21), the 123-room Ritz Carlton hotel (floors 22 through 26) and the 224-unit Residences at the Ritz Carlton (floors 27 through 52).
Also: A pair of readers sent in photos of new lighting being tested on the edges of the lower part of the Ritz tower. Nighttime renderings of the tower seem to show similar light strips going all the way up.

Hey Guys...when you are done there, we've got a couple of other buildings that need a washing...

You can really see the difference in the reflection. It will be difficult to keep this building clean, being right next to the freeway. My friends work on the building and they told me at night, it will look much better, all lit up.
