Win Tickets to See Bajofondo at the Mayan

With eight musicians in the band, the stage at a Bajofondo show quickly becomes crowded.

South American collective Bajofondo began by mixing tango and electronica, but over time the group's sounds broadened to include elements of house and trip-hop. Thursday, September 17, the band brings its eclectic sounds to Downtown's historic Mayan Theatre and we've got tickets for blogdowntown readers who would like to be there courtesy of Goldenvoice.

Opening the night is Anomie Belle, noted for setting her socially conscious lyrics to down-tempo electronic music.

Want to attend the show? We've got two pairs of tickets to give away. Just leave a comment letting us know why you should win. Be sure to include contact info via Facebook or email. Contest closes Wednesday at 6pm.

Note (Wednesday 11pm): A commenter noted that the text above said Thursday, but that I had closed the contest off today. In order to get the names to the venue I have to close off contests at least the day before the show, so I just made a mistake on what day I listed. My apologies.

I love Bajofondo! Been listening to the Tango Club album for years. I really wanna go to the show but don't have the money so it would be great if I could get a pair of tix from blogdowntown. Thanks so much for always hooking us downtowners up! :)

I would absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Bajofondo live on Thursday at the Mayan. I had no idea they are going to be in town on Thursday. Thanks for letting me know. I started listening to them about 8 years ago with their hit "Perfume", and I naturally got into them later on. Their music is impressive, and very listenable. I haven't seen them live, but would go to the show for sure. Plus, they are playing at the Mayan- one of the best theaters in L.A. to see a live gig. What a beauty.

Even though they're now Bajofondo instead of Bajofondo Tango Club, I still love these guys, and Mar Dulce, their latest album, is great! I was dancing to it last night with friends. Now I need to dance to their music live! This performance is going to be the event of the year; I must be there! If I'm not, my bosses at the Ministry of Tango will come after me; please help me!

Great, an event I can finally go to because I know who they are, love them and will really enjoy them!

I've been reading this blog (not a complaint there) for a long time and have never got any tickets for anything, mostly because I really have no idea who those bands are (been waiting patiently for Ximena Sarinana or someone like BAJOFONDO or Kinky, etc.) but BAJOFONDO I know... GET ME TICKETS PLEASE!

Thanks for entering. I'm closing off comments so I can draw names and email the winners. You've got 50/50 odds!
