This 2008 Park[ing] Day site was found on 4th street, between Spring and Main.

Park[ing] Day L.A. returns for its third year on Friday, bringing a handful of pop-up park spaces to Downtown's streets and alleys. The event, intended to highlight the need for urban park space, was built around the idea of temporarily reclaiming parking spaces as green space.

Here's a rundown of the Downtown events listed on the Park[ing] Day L.A. map:

Harlem Place: "This year, the [DLANC] Sustainability Committee is Reclaim[ing] Harlem Place - an underutilized alley that could potentially serve as open space for our neighborhood. Come see how we've transformed the street into a community gathering space and find out more about what's happening in your neighborhood." 10am - 3pm, Harlem Alley between 4th and 5th.

Pembroke Lane: "Join the fun in Pembroke Lane (The Alley behind Villa Flores, between Flower/Hope, and Olympic/11th) on Friday, Sept. 18 from noon-4pm for our PARKing Day in South Park! Bring your lunch and enjoy some urban conviviality courtesy of Portable City Projects."

South Park: "In an empty parking lot across from PYO Gallery. Between 11th and 12th. Behind Flower Street Lofts"

Melendrez / Torti Gallas: "Join us for an old school picnic!" 617 S. Olive.

HMC Architects: "Stop by to one-putt your way through our curbside park on September 18th! Prizes for winners!" 5th street, between Flower and Grand.

EDAW AECOM: "sidewalk widening." 4th and Spring, 8:30am - 3:30pm.

Abode Communities Park: "Parking Space Housewarming - expect food and entertainment!" Alameda and Traction. 10am - 4pm.

The first time I saw Harlem place I saw a pedestrian walkway with cafes, shops and balconies overlooking it. Looking forward to checking out whatever little thing they have tomorrow.

Check out our blog to read our review on Park(ing) Day - we really loved it and hope that it allows people to think about space, urban renewal and the environment around us. Go Green everyone :)
