Hope Street Sidewalk Reopens After 15 Months of Construction
A canopy guides pedestrians past the nearly completed parking garage adjacent to Market Lofts on Hope street.
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — After 15 months closed due to construction of a parking garage for Market Lofts, the west side of Hope street is once again open to pedestrians. While the barricades installed never entirely stemmed the tide of walking traffic, the closure had provided an obstacle to those making their way to Ralphs or walking north from Market Lofts.
A construction canopy remains over the reopened walkway, but should be removed once facade work on the garage is completed next month.
The garage will provide parking for Market Lofts residents, who currently park on a surface lot across Hope street.

Was excited to see this getting setup on my way to work yesterday.
One thing that came to mind though - they couldn't have put up a temporary walkway/sidewalk over the last 15 months?
This also will cause a hit for LAPD since their days of ticketing jaywalking residents across the street to the temporary lot are coming to an end.

Any idea what retail is heading underneath the garage there? Concerto set up their retail long ago (bakery, bikeshop, and something else...?).
It looks like they could add a wall and make it two shops if necessary as this is a fairly big spot.
